A very bad picture, but I'll try to explain what was done with the door. There is, as far as I understand, one of the techniques used for aging cover or simulated aging. I'll describe both options, using available materials. One is acceptable and easy to perform.
We presume that all the doors of MDF, as a rule, already primed for painting. If not, then you should do
1. First, cover the door by the ground (not to be confused with the primer for the construction work).
The first option is the imitation of aging.
2. Paint the main door by the paint color ivory (by the roller with an acrylic paint).
3. Take acrylic paint (yellow gold), 3-5 cm flat brush dipped the brush into the paint, remove an excess paint on the edge of the bank and make a few strokes of cardboard until the brush will not nearly dry. A slight touch on the convex part of the panels, clearly in one direction applied by brush lines, creating the effect of translucent gold substrate under the shabby main white.
4. Apply the pattern you have in mind (by the pencil sketches, templates, an image, translated through the blueprint) with acrylic paints.
The second option is aging.
2. The places of aging cover (ideally with a gold leaf) are painted with "white gold."
3. Now cover the whole door acrylic ivory.
4. After drying, carefully, place the proposed aging, process abrasive side sponge for washing dishes. Until you achieve the desired result. You can, of course, use the sandpaper but it is better and more accurate when using the sponge.
5. Draw a picture.
6. Cover the door with a colorless acrylic lacquer. Because gilding is a foil of an alloy, mainly of copper and zinc, with time, it is oxidized by changing color. The varnish prevents the oxidation process.
I advise you the first option, because for the second one, some experience and knowledge of the material is needed. You can experiment on the small things; it would be not offensive if you do not get the desired result. Go ahead and you will get everything.
It would be simpler to describe in detail the whole process of work if you tell more specific what you want, what kind of colors?

In general, it is easy. There are several ways. Recently, choosing the simplest of them, I restored two old Viennese chairs.
The first step, of course, took off the old paint.
2. Then I primed chairs with a white paint, which, in general, is not always necessary.
3. Then I painted a desired color and covered chairs that turquoise (more contrasting colors usually look more effective. Everything depends on what you need to bind the color).
4. When the turquoise paint dried, I rubbed by a wax places where you would like to see serving turquoise and white paint again struck (again, you can give it a tone).
5. And when this layer is dry woolen cloth rubbed places waxed and if you want you can sand by the small emery paper.
6. Then I drew a flower and walked nacre. Then I covered chairs with lacquer again, water-based, as well as a paint.
7. In conclusion, were sewn soft pads under soft zones.
8. The result is in the pictures.
