I bought a large piece of stained glass (I liked it very much - green with free designs). I plan to stick it on a wooden table, and in the edges I will make mosaic pieces such as glass. I am worried that I need to glue the glass so that I can use the table without fear to break. A little transparent glass, so, liquid nails do not fit. Maybe, a bustilat? Or a silicone sealant? A stained glass is not perfectly smooth, but it is important there are no empty cavities.

Many thanks to Summer for this subject and the publication of such a great idea! I have a third year unfinished well, I didn’t want to make a usual wooden house, and I could not come up with how to shape a protruding ring. (Preferably, not too expensive!).

While only in my head, but I am looking forward to the season for the implementation! I want to make panels of glass mosaic. Subsequently, a panel will be inserted in the bathroom tile set as a frieze. The basis will be using a glass sheet of a thickness 6 mm. A mosaic on a grid holds very firmly. I will not tear off, I will cut with a knife, and I will glue with a grid together. Q: how to glue? I plan on PVA (undiluted). We placed a mosaic from tiles just on a dry screed. This is a tile. The orange tile was on the grid for 1450 rubles per square meter, while blue and green for 450 rubles per piece stuck on a paper.
I draw with a pencil how it happened. Then I spread the mosaic, then taped with a tape and moved to the floor. Then we poured with a tile adhesive and moved back to the mosaic. In the morning I peeled off the tape. A few days later we jammed joints. For a couple of hours we have painted. And my husband laid a truss. I collected tiles form my best friends, bought on sale. A lot of plans but so far I only made a manhole ring (it should still be possible to make it a separate cover) and a border for flowers. It was very fun, I should say! The only thing, probably, I have to buy a normal tile saw because it is difficult to pick up pieces if you just beat tiles as I do. I have recently tinkered with the artificial stone (the imitation of masonry on a concrete wall), I took the adhesive called Ceresit CM 117 (I bought it in OBI store; hardly there was a bad glue). I have worked with artificial stone for the first time, but did everything according to the instruction. In my mind I have thought several times what I was doing. It was exactly as instructed. Subjectively, the process seemed more difficult and objectively longer, than the application of standard masonry tiles of the same size in the same area.
The main difficulty was to securely fix each tile until the dryness of adhesive (and there was a couple of hours, there was no option to keep your hands and tiles just moved out (to resist special crosses and cloves in some places), and literally fall off the wall under its weight as if falling forward). I had to invent temporary props.
So, when working with a stone each time it is necessary to use special supports for each large and heavy stone fence? Or are there any other options?
It would be very interested to hear your recommendations for masonry wall mosaics of natural stone. The mosaic of small pieces is much less slippery than the whole tile.
Floor tiles can be very different. It can be smooth or very rough (especially the legs do not slip, where according to the terms of use it is a danger). There is a special tile with an additional relief (usually raised above the baseline tile strips) used, for example, for the steps that the foot accidentally slipped.

I do not glue on the grid, I use the tape. You can read it at the very beginning of the topic and look up pictures.
The next year I am going to fix the foundation. Are you interested in balls? I can tell you as in our museum were made balls for a garden gate and a porch. We took a plastic lamp for a street lamp, sawed in half. Then we folded halves and fixed them. We poured the foundation; I do not know whether we made reinforcement. The approach is similar to yours: I am constantly looking for technology at minimal cost because if for all my hobbies to buy materials, there will not be any budget. "One, but a fiery passion" it is not about me. There are too many passions. I allow myself to spend money not looking only for professional tools. Well, this is a preamble. Now, about the deal. A mirror and a glass must be of the same thickness. For me 4 mm. The mirror is cut with a glass cutter. The glass from the inside part, (that is the part where the adhesive will be applied), painted with special paints for glass. I buy French paints, transparent and opaque. The further staining of glass is like poetry, i.e. an intimate process and often unpredictable. The only thing I want to emphasize, it is better to paint in several layers, starting with transparent colors and small details to achieve a depth. The last layer with opacity paint. Paint with a brush, sponge fingers, in general, everything that is consistent with the result of design. Do not paint the large areas of stasis: it is tedious and boring. The paint must be completely dry. Literally, each layer before you apply the next one. Then cut the glass with the same glass cutter. Glue with "liquid nails" for the mirror. (!). Caulk crack space and then any small procedures in accordance with the purpose of the subject. This is no sense to describe everything; I will answer any questions if they arise.

Thanks for the kind words, but it is not a craft, believe me, even without coquetry, it is an interesting exercise feasibly for anyone. A little patience and a little time. Actually, the idea of using the remains of mirrors came after going to the hardware store where a glamorous mirror mosaic which price was four thousands per square. And on the eve at the glass workshop we took away our ordered mirror. We asked about the possibility to profit from them at a reasonable cost the remains of cutting sheets of mirror, so even they did not want to take the money, free from debris. And that garbage consists of 150 pieces by 60 cm! So, how to resist? Now, the garage is packed from the floor to the ceiling with the mirror. It will be enough for grandchildren. How much goods are lost! Maybe my example will be contagious? Up to this story that the glass cutter or a Hadron Collider were about the same distance from the sphere of my interests.

I finished in my summer residence the furniture for emission. For the upper part I used the glass from a battle of residues, the grout colored and painted not to fuss over this thing. It is a dacha, everything is easy to get dirty. We used an acrylic paint and acrylic coating on the edges and as a decoration in the middle of boxes bought by accident.
